Synopsis:
In under an hour Bill Edgerton, ASA will tell us key things we need to know about wine, whether collecting it, evaluating it, appraising it, or consuming it. Bill, who is a forensic wine expert, has appraised wine and spirits for more than 34 years. Among other important points, he will discuss “red-flags” to be aware of with fake bottles, and will share some of the more unusual appraisal assignments in which he has been involved. There will be lots of time for questions and their answers.

William Edgerton, ASA – Bio
Originally headed for a career in architecture, Bill Edgerton has had a varied career within ASA, which he joined in 1967. He appraised and later sold commercial real estate, and, additionally, as a person with many interests, also headed an antiques business that specialized in mechanical musical instruments. A long-time wine collector, in 1985, Bill was surprised when attempting to have his collection appraised that there was no source for/of comparable sales. This did not stop Bill, who created a highly regarded source/guide which he published in annual editions until 2000, when it was sold. Now available digitally, it now includes more than 1 million entries. Known throughout the world for his expertise in the field of wine, Bill, whose first forensic wine analysis was done in 1998, is one of a handful of specialists qualified to identify fake bottles. His firm specializes in complicated wine appraisals for all matters, including those for insurance coverage, loss and matrimonial issues.
